Cuisine: South Indian
We went to Shree Anandhaas Coimbatore during lunch time when Idli and Wada are not available as with most of the places in Southern India. You can expect sumptuous rice meals served with various coconut and veggie preparations, fresh yogurt, jaggery payasam and pappadams for lunch. Dosa (known as roast in this part of the world) of all varieties like masala, onion, rava, a variety of pulav and biryanis and Uthapams are also part of the lunch menu.

Peacock motif: typical of Tamil Nadu

Location: Shree Anandhaas has 7 outlets in Coimbatore in most of the heavy traffic junctions. Parking could be an issue if you reach at a traffic hour. We found the lunch time to be relatively easier probably due to the blazing hot weather.

Our Order:

Rice meal with sambhar, rasam, kootu poriyal, pachdi, payasam, buttermilk, pickle and appalam (the rice poppadams popular with kids)

Masala roast (Masala Dosa) – that is what the crispy ghee dosas are called in Coimbatore.

Uthapam (chilli onion uthapam)
Since there were no idlis available, we shared the thali (rice meal) with kids too. The staff did not have an issue in us sharing the thali with the kids and did not insist on taking another thali.

Service:
Shree Anandhaas Coimbatore prides itself in attentive and courteous staff. Quick service and considerate service towards families were the highlights for me. Our kids gobbled up almost 4 servings of yogurt and it was not charged extra even when we insisted. Thali was served on a banana leaf as is the tradition in South India and everything else in steel plates and bowls.

Ambience:
Seating area for meals and snacks is different. Both meals and tiffin (snacks) are served at the first floor (ac hall) while the lower floor only serves tiffin/ snacks.
The ambience is of a typical casual dining family restaurants in India. Large and spacious, abuzz with family chatter, sounds of old and prehistoric fans in the background and clanking of dishes in the fore, waiters in food stained aprons swiftly running around serving 2 tables in one go and menus being swiftly moved from one table to the other.

Cost for 4 (including 2 kids): INR 500
