Kristallwallten: Swarowski Crystal World with kids

Giant at Swarowski Crystal World

Swarowski Crystal World is a mesmerizing place near Innsbruck and highly recommended whether you’re traveling with family or solo.

if you’re planning a longer trip in Austria, check out my post on a day in Salzburg with kids.

Entrance to the Giant
There are over 72,000 flower bulbs in the garden of the Giant. It is the most common photo point which is symbolic of the Crystal Museum or Krystalwallten. One selfie or a family photo is surely a good idea just to keep the tradition alive.
The Giant garden has more than just flowers and pretty gardens. You will also find a lot of modern art sculptures depicting various aspects

Wonder Museums in Swarowski Crystal World
There are a lot of exhibits by many renowned artists. The expressions merged with crystal are a sight to behold. Their wonder museums are the best and not to be missed. Exhibits like grief by yoyakai, is one of them.
I recommend reading the descriptions in the language of your choice as it provides a perspective to the exhibit and also you can be sure you didn’t miss anything.
For instance right next to the world’s largest hand cut crystal are also the world’s smallest hand cut crystals measuring 0.7mm in diameter. Unless you read about it in the description next to the exhibit, you won’t notice it.

Maze
What makes Swarowski Crystal World special is that its not just crystal museum but a fun place for kids too. It’s a human maze that adults and kids will enjoy going in and trying to come out of. Don’t miss climbing up the watch tower to look at the maze. Right next to the maze is a lovely carousel in black and white. Everything in the Krystalwallten speaks of art in contemporary forms too.

Playground
Other than the crystal exhibits, kids will enjoy a lot in the playground that they have, both indoor and outdoor.
It comprises of a lot of activities based on science that the kids will enjoy doing, some water games and others.

Crystal Clouds and the Mirror Pool:
The crystal clouds as you can see in the pictures, hold over 600,000 crystals of different sizes that makes them sparkle even more. The best time to see them is in broad daylight or night time when there is light abound around this area when you can see the light getting reflected from the crystals on the water beneath. The day we visited this, it was an overcast sky and there were light showers and drizzling. There was practically no sparkling of the crystals. However, the mirror pool looks just as stunning whether there is light or not.

Playtower: At 20mtrs in height, the play tower is one of the world’s tallest indoor playgrounds with a multidimensional play experience. If you look closely you can see an entire zoo painted on the façade of the playtower. There are multiple levels in the playtower which are arranged one on top of the other which can be accessed through a vertical climbing net extending to a 14mtrs height.

Acts and Shows
There are many Acts and shows like gymnast acts, magic shows etc that keep going on in different parts of the Swarowski Crystal World. The information for the shows of the day (both paid and free) is mentioned on the guide given along with the ticket.
