Wokyo Noodle Bar

Singapore Noodles

Wokyo Noodle Bar lives upto its name both in food and in ambience. Gives a feel of a noodle bar on the street of Shanghai or Tokyo somewhere serving up hot noodles and just that. Clear in its messaging, good in its service and delectable in its food.
See this post for one of my all time favorite Thai restaurants in UAE and this one for a nice little French cafe in Dubai.

  • Cuisine: Asian. While it’s a noodle bar and they won’t serve any Chinese or Japanese delicacies; they offer sauce for their noodles from different parts of Asia (Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia.. you get the drift). The menu does have some options in Soups, Sides and sweets but it is limited. Wokyo Noodle Bar does seem to believe in doing one thing and doing it par excellence – which is making noodles. Keeping this in mind, the menu is also really simple. To make the noodles of your choice, you pick a sauce, base (noodles) and a protein (veggies or meat). Take their spice rating seriously, especially if you are an Indian. Unlike other places where medium spicy is no spice for Indians, here medium spicy is really medium spicy.
  • Location, Parking and Opening Hours: Its located JLT Cluster J so there is ample parking like in any cluster in JLT. It’s a nice walk within JLT if you come in the evening. Wokyo gives the feel of this nice little place buzzing with activity, as it seems to be quite popular – atleast was when we visited it. Within that stretch of about 500mtrs, there were 4 restaurants of which Little Erth, and Wokyo were the only ones pretty full.
There is both inside and outside seating and till about mid May in Dubai, you can enjoy sitting outside.
It opens for both lunch and dinner in usual months. Best to check their timings in case you are visiting this place during Ramadan.
  • Our Order: It was our usual date night (Tuesdays or Wednesdays of every week, just Saurabh and I try one of the restaurants in the city, without the kids) so it was just the 2 of us directly reaching the restaurant from work and we decided to try 1 noodle bowl each. All the noodles come with carrots, spring onions and cabbage so what you choose is over and above that:
    • Saurabh’s Order: Jakarta Sambal Goreng Sauce (very spicy), Udon noodle and Veggies
    • My order: Singapore crunchy peanut sauce (medium spicy), Rice stick noodles and Tofu.
  • Service: It’s a part self-order restaurant. Service was fast and the servers smiling.
  • Ambience: Warm and buzzing environment. The Chinese lantern décor adds to the Asian element and its location combined with the décor, totally looks like a café in South East Asia, HK, Japan or China. The place is quiet enough to have conversations and happening enough to enjoy company.
  • Cost for 2 :
Super value for money as for something like what we ordered it was around AED 80
